The Winnipeg Wolves Grade 9 Boys Basketball Club is pleased to announce that their 2009-2010 Identification Camp will be held at Fort Richmond Collegiate on the following dates:
Thursday, June 18th from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Friday, June 19th from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Saturday, June 20th from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Ages
Players born in 1995 or later are invited to attend (ie. boys entering Grade 9 or a younger grade in September 2009). This camp will identify and select players for the 2009-2010 basketball club season, which begins in September 2009. We want all players to make every attempt to be at all three sessions so the coaches can accurately evaluate each player.
We will be keeping 10 active players and 2 non-active. Non-active players get a chance to play if one or more of the active players cannot make a game.
A cost of $20 for each player attending the ID camp will be required and should be paid during the first session. Cash only please. Receipts will be issued.
Equipment
Each player should come to all ID camp sessions equipped with:
- an indoor basketball
- non-marking basketball footwear
- a dark and a light coloured t-shirt
- water
Program
The Winnipeg Wolves Basketball Club is an elite basketball team that will practice regularly throughout the year. We usually practice two to three times a week depending upon the time of year, with games and/or tournaments being on the weekends. Our practice schedule will be adjusted during the school basketball season. The club will always respect the schedule for any in-season school sports team and allows all their players to attend other in-season sports activities.
During the 2009-2010 season, the Winnipeg Wolves will participate in the highly competitive River City Basketball League and enter into multiple tournaments, both within the city and outside the province, traveling to tournaments in Canada and the USA.
The Wolves are looking for players who are willing to play a team game, commit to defence, compete just as hard at practice as in games, and attend all practices regularly. You will be expected to play hard at both ends of the court, learn a basic offensive set and compete in a tough but sportsmanship manner.
If any player(s) cannot attend for any reason please email Martin Riley (mriley@mts.net) and an alternate date MAY be arranged. It would be appreciated but not required that players planning on trying out pre-register at the same email address. This would help greatly to plan the tryout.
Info
For more information or any general questions regarding either the ID Camps or the Winnipeg Wolves Basketball Club, please contact Martin Riley (mriley@mts.net) or see our official team website.
The coaching staff (Martin Riley, Tyler Kohut, Chiranjit Goswami) look forward to the tryouts being competitive and intense.
